There are few moments in the mining sector that feel like a clear line in the sand. One of those “before and after” milestones. But that’s exactly what IDWiM 2025 represents.
The International Day of Women in Mining (IDWiM) has always been more than a date in the calendar. This year, the organizers, volunteers, and global network behind this relevant day have set their sights high. With the theme Voices of Impact – A Year of Resilience and Recognition, the IDWiM committee is using June 17th as a spark. An ignition point for twelve months of storytelling, regional celebration, and tangible action. As a committee member, I’m incredibly proud to see this kind of force emerge from within our mining community.
From PRA Communications vantage point, that’s exactly what sustainable communications looks like – clear, purpose-driven and anchored by values.
Why This Matters for Mining
Inclusion isn’t just the right thing to do. It’s smart business.
Companies with greater gender diversity are more likely to retain top talent, outperform on ESG, and unlock long-term investor confidence. Institutional investors are increasingly tying their support to performance metrics around leadership diversity, workplace culture, and stakeholder engagement.
The How – Collaboration Across Borders, Roles, and Realities
In our work at PRA Communications, we talk a lot about authentic storytelling and the need to go beyond the optics. IDWiM 2025 embodies that. This isn’t about panel diversity for its own sake. It’s about spotlighting those who are already doing the work and ensuring they’re given a stage that reflects their impact.
What’s Next
The IWiM Voices of Impact campaign will include a mix of regional activations and collaborative toolkits to social stories and multilingual engagement, setting the tone for the future.
This isn’t just about women in mining. This is for every leader, investor, and ally who understands that equity is not a nice-to-have, but rather the standard needed for a mining company to succeed.
