Redefining Leadership (and Laughing a Little Along the Way)

Redefining Leadership (and Laughing a Little Along the Way)

Join the Global Celebration for Women in Mining – June 17, 2025

There’s a different kind of momentum building in the mining sector. One that’s collaborative, cross-cultural, and refreshingly bold. That’s the energy behind this year’s International Day of Women in Mining (IDWIM 2025), and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of it.

On June 17, women and allies from around the world will log in (and probably troubleshoot Zoom links together) for two hours of real talk about power, leadership, and the kind of allyship that actually moves the needle.

This year, I’ve joined an amazing group of volunteers behind the scenes led by two industry powerhouses – Audrey Hlembizky and Maria Jose Rodriquez. Think less “committee,” more “dream team with spreadsheets.” Together, we’ve worked to make this year’s event transformational, not just inspirational. We’re aiming for less panel fatigue, more purpose. Less jargon, more action. And maybe, just maybe, a few moments where you say, “Wait, did someone finally say that out loud?”

A few highlights I’m especially excited about:

  • The Power of Allies – A session on what true allyship really looks like. Spoiler alert: it’s more than showing up. It’s about co-creating power and opportunity.
  • Entrepreneurship as Empowerment – Why “making space” isn’t enough anymore. Let’s talk about women owning, building, and redefining this industry.
  • Beyond Traditional DEI – Moderated by the fierce Maria Jose Rodriguez, this one goes deep into how we move past lip service and into real change. DEI as strategy, not sentiment.
  • Psychological Safety – If you’ve ever felt like “bringing your full self to work” might actually get you in trouble, this one’s for you.
  • Global Collaboration & Mentorship – Cross-border insight on building lasting, meaningful networks that lift as they lead.

We’ve also got interpretation in French, Spanish, and Portuguese and a livestream on LinkedIn if Zoom fills up (which it always does, so don’t wait).
